-Joined because of gameplay similar to Magic: the Gathering
-Business Model with no monthly fee, so when you are busy you don't feel compelled to play and end up screwed
-Skill balancing and skill-based play (doesn't always go right, but they try)
-Eliminates grind of leveling skills and attributes
-Decent level cap attainment, unlike some other games with lvl 60, 100+ level caps that take forever
-Mission/Quest based Goal versus level goals
-full 3D, not 3D on isometric background
- minimal time investment (much like RTS/FPS)
- Fusion of RTS and FPS elements: interrupts, resource control, capture the flag
- World Championship based on skill
- Observer mode to learn new strategies and to think of counters
-No skill-leveling BS grinding such as "Fire attack Level 1 --> Fire attack Level 2" after zapping something 50000000 times with Fire
- Vanity armor provides no extra stats, just appearance
- Customization of weapons/armor
- Instant PvP Characters
- Only one "server" - server infrastructure allows playing with anyone via International Districts
- Ability to choose male/female character regardless of class
- Designate PvP areas, instead of random PKing
- At least 20 skills per class
- Banning of cheaters/hackers
- Low server downtime
- The developers play on a regular basis

to put it short, RPG without the BS, grind, and griefing.

no fees. no pay to play, meaning i don't feel pressured to play everyday.

it's a nice stress reliever sometimes, and getting the best stuff doesn't take FOR..EVER.. (maybe some people disagree with me on this).

the controls are easy to learn.

coming up with unique skill builds (even if they are horrible) is very fun.

and each chapter is stand-alone! if i neglect one chapter, i won't be too out of the loop if i get the newest guild wars chapter, which is very convenient.

Find me someone who "doesn't" want to have good items and armor, and I'll show you a person who needs to find another game.

I play to have fun, even though it's frustrating at times. I cannot afford 15k armor (nor will I EVER be able to) and the only title I have ever acquired was sunspear and survivor (and my survivor ranger is deleted now.) I want to have all that stuff, but the truth is I just simply can't

I also play because it's the only decent MMO that's free. Silk road lags, runescape has a horrible online community, and I'm pretty much unfamiliar with all others. I would totally play WoW, if it wasn't monthly pay. (a few week trial isn't enough in my opinion.)

For now, i like to kill a boss and say "There can be only one" after wich i absorb his elite skill and feel a rush of victory in my brains reward centers. I guess the 5000 exp. contributes much to that.

Unfortunately, i approach the point at wich i have unlocked all skills.

Well I started competitive gaming long ago in the Wc3 days, did the beta for WoW and thought that blizzard finally lost it. I still don't like WoW yet my friends keep pushing it. Anyways, about 3 weeks later I saw my friend play some game asked "Whats that one?" "Oh I'm playing the beta for a new game called guildwars" "Oh cool." about 3 months later my Wc3 clan broke up for some stupid league reason, then told the guys if this clan break im kickin the bucket. Did for the most part just play with highschool friends now but the pvp in this game is so intense and more co-operative I love it.

Play to complete the stories and quests.

Also to get GMC on every continent that they come out with.

I have 15k armor on my Ranger and the weapons are collectors, greens, or golds that have dropped for me.

I really want to see the Free to Play business model succeed, and maybe influence the industry into reducing or eliminating monthly fees.

The graphics are very realistic, which is a big seller for me.

I started playing in the Preview weekend...and have been here ever since. Albeit, I took a 8 monthish break during school.......the fun level is still here..and there is a great sense of community in the game, and I have met many people in game.

It's super easy to get into, and I very much enjoy the 'balanced' PvP, which hinders errr WoW.

The replay value of GW is even higher than that of Diablo 2, which was a previous game I enjoyed.

The best part....you don't need to play for 10+ hours a day to be successful.

Wait no...the best part...is there's no Orcs or anything stupid.

Choice 6: I play because I've got nothing better to do, and I can't imagine not playing with my guildies. (PvP)

Reasons why I played:

The campaigns were interesting the first time I played through each of them. Only did them once each though because it felt pointless to do the same thing all over again.

Non-organized PvP was moderately interesting for a little while.

Reasons why I stopped playing after one month:

PvE quickly became stupidly boring, especially because PUGing is actually worse than single-player mode. I don't like farming and I don't like completing the same quests/missions again and again with no tangible benefits.

I don't have a sound card (and thus no TS/Vent) so no serious PvP guilds wanted me, and GvG is the only kind of PvP that I don't get tired of after twenty minutes.

If you only played for one month not even a medicore PvP guild would have excepted even if you had previous PvP exp.

I used to play... for 20 months... and heres why i did paly and why i stopped playing Ill make the 5 reasons =)

1. Cheap and free.
2. PvP was great fun and well balanced.
3. Fun grouping with al ldifferent types of people for missions etc and making some friends.
4. I enjoyed the GW economy and gaining all best weps/armor.
5. Was the best game of its type available 2 years ago. Also was a massive player database.

1. Costing to much for all the expantions for such a small game.
2. PvP side of the game destroyed.
3. Heroes turned PvE into more of an RPG to a MMORPG.
4. I simply got everything i wanted. Via weps/armor.
5. Few players left and better games available for same price imo.
6. Heavly dislike the Title system more like a bragging system.

Feels like an RPG with outposts to show off titles now in my opinion

Last May I wanted to buy a new game, and then I saw the top list in bought games on a norwegian page, and Guild Wars was #1 so I bought it.

I don't see why ppl want all titles tho.. It's just boring, only titles i have/want are treasure hunter and wisdom.
